Hone Heke

Hone Heke Pokai was a powerful Ngapuhi leader. He was noted for his prowess as a warrior, but also for his enterprise, intelligence and energy in looking after his people's interests. He was the first rangatira (chief) to sign the Treaty of Waitangi. Heke was probably born around 1808.

The family and tribal home was at Kaikohe. Hōne Heke attended Oromāhoe and Kawakawa native village schools. He showed early promise and his parents sent him to St Stephen's, Parnell, Auckland.Image result for hone hekeImage result for hone hekeThe Legend of Legendary Maori Chief Hone Heke

  1. Hi Lavanda
This is great information about Hone Hoke but it seems as though you have copied it straight from a website. Make sure you rewrite information in your own words so that you create your own blogpost.
    Great images!
